PACIFIC BASIN ECONOMIC COUNCIL
PBEC returns to Korea's capital city of Seoul for its 36th IGM from May 9-13, 2003. Under the theme of Managing Uncertainties: Challenges and Opportunities for Corporate Leadership, the region's premiere international business conference will bring together corporate leaders, key government officials, and leading experts from around the Pacific Basin. Ambassador Piamsak Milintachinda, the new Executive Director of APEC, recently met with PBEC President Dalton Tanonaka in Hawaii. The two leaders had a wide-ranging discussion on key issues facing both regional organizations in the coming year, and pledged greater cooperation and mutual support. In a survey taken of chairmen of PBEC’s 20 Asia-Pacific member economies, most said the way they do business isn’t being significantly revised because of potential war with Iraq and North Korea, and the ongoing threat of terrorism. |
