  • ADB
    A multilateral development finance institution, established in 1966 and now owned by 58 members, dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific.

    • Sustained growth creates jobs and reduces poverty, and the private sector is the largest source of employment and investment. A healthy private sector will increase the tax base for social services provided by the state.
  • APEC
    A regional vehicle established in 1989 for promoting open trade and practical economic cooperation and to advance Asia-Pacific economic dynamism and sense of community.
    • ABAC
      The APEC Business Advisory Council is a permanent body which provides an independent business perspective within the APEC process.
    • APEC Electronic Commerce Steering Group
      Established to ensure continued co-ordination and pursuit of the Blueprint for Action, involving relevant sub-fora as well as business sector experts.
  • ASEAN
    Established in 1967 to accelerate the economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the region and to promote regional peace and stability.
  • ESI
    A private, non-profit, non-partisan public policy research organization dedicated to assuring that globalization works with market forces to achieve maximum benefits rather than distorting markets and imposing costs.
  • EWC
    Established in 1960 to promote better understanding and relations between the nations of Asia and the Pacific through cooperative study, training and research.
  • Institute for Public-Private Partnerships
    Training and technical assistance firm dedicated to fostering public-private partnerships in infrastructure development, municipal and governmental services, financial sector reform, urban renewal, non-governmental organization (NGO) development, and business/economic development.
  • OECD
    An organization that provides governments a setting in which to discuss economic and social policy, compare experiences, seek answers to common problems and co-ordinate domestic and international policies.
  • PECC
    A tripartite partnership of senior individuals from business and industry, government, academic and other intellectual circles who discuss freely on current, practical policy issues of the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Salzburg Seminar
    A leading forum that brings together future leaders from government, business, academia, and the independent sector for global dialogues on issues of pressing international concern.
  • South Pacific Forum - Mirror
    Founded in 1971, representing Heads of Government of all the independent and self-governing Pacific Island countries, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Transparency International
    Non-profit, non-governmental organization working to counter corrupt international business and government practices. Extensive data and research available online.
  • United Nations (UN)
    Established in 1945, its 188 member countries are committed to preserving peace through international cooperation and collective security.
    • UNDP
      The mission of the United Nations Development Programme is to assisting countries in poverty eradication, employment, empowerment of women and environmental protection.
    • UNCTAD
      The UN Conference on Trade and Development, established in 1964, is the principal organ of the United Nations General Assembly in the field of trade and development.
  • World Bank
    Founded in 1944, the World Bank is a development institution whose goal is to reduce poverty by promoting sustainable economic growth in its client countries.
  • WTO
    An international organization dealing with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible.
