The Environmental Award reflects PBEC's commitment to promoting environmentally responsible business practices, and was established to recognize PBEC companies that have made particularly outstanding contributions to environmental protection. All nominations are evaluated by a panel of internationally recognized judges. The first PBEC Environmental Award went to Green Island Cement (Holdings) Ltd. of Hong Kong in 1999 and the second PBEC Environmental Award was presented to Sony Magnetic Products (Thailand) in March of 2000. The 3rd PBEC Environmental Award nomination process opened on August 25, 2000 and nominations were due on November 3, 2000.
