PBEC Environmental Award History
The PBEC Environmental Award was launched in 1999 under the leadership of the Working Committee Chairman at that time, Mr. Ichiro Kagiyama. The PBEC Environmental Working Committee established the PBEC Environmental Award to recognize the substantial achievements of environmental protection and economic profitability by outstanding PBEC member companies. The PBEC Environmental Award is a reflection of PBEC's commitment to recognize and honor the achievements of environmentally sustainable business practices in the region. By honoring these companies, PBEC hopes that their achievements will become broadly recognized by the international community, and will serve as a model for others to follow. The 1st Environmental Award was presented to Green Island Cement (Holdings) Ltd. of Hong Kong in 1999 and the 2nd Environmental Award went to Sony Magnetic Products Co., Ltd, Thailand in March of 2000. The 3rd Environmental Award will be overseen by the new Working Committee Chairman, Mr. Tadahiko Ohashi, Chief Executive Economist of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. Mr. Ohashi's extensive background in renewable energy and environment protection will greatly benefit this important project. |
