Manager, Information Technology & Communication

Provides information technology and communication support to the Pacific Basin Economic Council under direction of the Vice President, including but not limited to:

Communications:

  • Updates, coordinates and distributes all press mailings, materials, and publications. Assists with proofreading and editing of all PR material. Works closely with contracted vendors including graphic and layout designers, printers, and shippers.
      PBEC PR material includes but not limited to: IGM Executive Summary, International Membership Directory, Pacific Bulletin newsletter, Special Reports, Policy Papers and other related PR material.
  • Maintains PR library including PBEC and partner organization PR materials, current subscriptions and updating library weekly with new publications.
  • Responsible for the collection, duplication, and distribution of written speech material during PBEC's IGM, Mid-term meeting, conferences, and other events.
  • Position may also include other associated professional duties and responsibilities as required and as assigned by the Vice President.

Information Technology:

  • Develops and provides content for the organization's web site. Performs as editor of the site's content and gathers and researches information. Converts documents into HTML or PDFs. Designs layout to enhance the look of the site. Responds to organizational needs, strategies, and goals and develops web pages that meet those needs. Monitors all technical aspects of an organization's website.
  • Assists in development and deployment of Member Committee and Working Committee websites.
  • Assists network server contractor with security, installation, configuration, upgrade and maintenance of organization's server and workstations. Monitors performance and security of server.
  • Performs system backups, and ensures user accessibility and site performance.
  • Maintains the PBEC database, updating files regularly and providing assistance with mailing lists and labels. Controls system capacity for existing requirements and plans for future needs.
  • Consults with the Programs Manager on on-line registration forms and makes applicable changes to webpage. Ensures registration data is captured in PBEC database. Major program problems are directed to outside vendors.
  • Installs PC's and related hardware and software. Investigates hardware problems and performs minor system hardware and communication connection repairs. Major problems or repairs are directed to outside vendors.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests for assistance from International Secretariat staff for computer systems or PC support. Identifies problems, troubleshoots and provides advice to assist users.
