Transparency - Mr. Michael Davies, Chairman

Mr. Davies reported that the Committee discussed international anti-corruption initiatives that were taking place around the world, including PBEC Colombia's Forum on anti-corruption with the theme of "The Role of the Private Sector in Anti-Corruption Initiatives and Strategies." Over the next year, the Committee plans on continuing to promote good corporate governance, co-host a possible third workshop on corporate governance in cooperation with APEC, continue to actively participate in international conferences and workshops, and to look at opportunities for collaboration with PECC. The Committee plans, as a new initiative, to monitor and provide input to the work of the APEC Government Procurement Experts Group on transparency in government procurement. The Committee also intends to continue monitoring developments regarding the harmonization of international accounting standards and placing material on transparency on the website.
