Ryan Kawailani Ozawa is the Manager of Information Technology and Communications for the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC). Mr. Ozawa is the creative and technical force behind the conception and design of PBEC's widely acclaimed website. Under his direction, the PBEC website has become an important tool for promoting PBEC's views and activities, and conducting the work of the organization. Mr. Ozawa handles most computer- and internet-related issues for the International Secretariat including web design and maintenance, network and server management, telecommunications and equipment in addition to providing related assistance to PBEC's twenty international offices. Mr. Ozawa handles media relations for the PBEC President and PBEC International, handling inquiries from journalists, as well as from researchers and potential members. He additionally coordinates the production of PBEC's many publications, including the Pacific Journal newsletter, the annual IGM Executive Summary and Membership Directory, as well as other special informational and promotional pieces. Mr. Ozawa previously served as the Editor-in-Chief of Ka Leo O Hawaii, the third largest daily in the state (the student newspaper at the University of Hawaii at Manoa), and before that at the university's Hilo campus. Having published and worked on the web since its earliest days, he also designed and maintained numerous university department websites before becoming a freelance designer and consultant. Mr. Ozawa graduated from UH-Manoa in 2001 with a B.A. in Journalism, specializing in Hawaiian and Pacific Island cultures and languages. |
