PBEC Secretary General Robert G. Lees, along with other international business leaders based in Honolulu, recently welcomed a delegation from the Indonesian Securities Company Foundation (ISCF) to the islands.
On Monday, April 5, the six ISCF delegates came to Hawaii to meet with Dr. S. Ghon Rhee, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Financial Markets Research Center (FIMA) and K.J. Luke Chair of International Finance and Banking at the University of Hawaii. The hope was to establish a joint research program focused on Indonesian capital markets.
As a precursor to the meetings, the ISCF Delegates received a warm welcome at the PBEC International Secretariat, and received enthusiastic support from Mr. Lees, Mr. Warren Luke (President and CEO of Hawaii National Bank), and others.
The meetings successfully culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ISCF and FIMA, under which ISCF will establish the Indonesian Securities Institute on Training & Education (InSITE) and the Indonesian Securities Research Center (InSearch) in Indonesia to implement training, seminars, and education, as well as conduct research on capital market policy issues facing the Indonesian securities industry.
The K. J. Luke Chair and the FIMA Research Center will assist the ISCF-InSITE in designing and implementing various training and education programs and assist the ISCF-InSearch in identifying policy issues and formulating policy recommendations through joint research.
Additionally, the ISCF-InSITE and the FIMA Research Center will jointly create a financial executive program as well as training and seminar programs tailored for senior/junior members of the Indonesian securities companies, capital market regulatory agencies, stock/futures exchanges, and other capital market institutions.
