Yu Xiasong
Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trading (CCPIT)

YU XIASONG was born on September 1937 and a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Graduated from the Department of Industrial and Civil Architecture, Qinghua University, 1964. Served as Deputy Director of the General Office, 1st Light Industry Bureau of Beijing, 1973-1979; Deputy General Manager of the Beijing Economic Development Corporation, 1979-1982; Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Administrative Commission, Director of the Beijing Foreign Economic and Trade Committee, 1983-1988; Deputy Secretary General of Beijing Municipal People's Government, 1988-1989; Director General of the Department of Foreign Investment Administration, Assistant to Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade, 1989-1992; Deputy Director of the Economy and Trade Office of the State Council, 1992-1993; Vice Minister of the State Economic and Trade Commission and concurrently Deputy Director of the Tariff Policy Commission of the State Council, 1993-1997. Became Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China Chamber of International Commerce in September 1997.

Concurrently Chairman of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Chairman of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission, Chairman of the Economic and Trade Co-ordination Committee for the Two Sides of the China Association of Foreign Service Trades, Councillor to the China Marketing Association.

Other posts include: Member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Committee of the CPPCC, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Overseas Friendship Association, Adviser to the Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits, Standing Council Member of the China Overseas Exchanges Association.
