Chote Sophonpanich
Krungdhep Sophon Public Company Limited

CHOTE SOPHONPANICH was born in Bangkok in 1941, attended Bangkok Christian College, Bangkok; Knox Grammar School, Sydney; and the University of Sydney where he graduated in Economics, holding a bachelor degree.

He was a trainee at the Bank of New South Wales, Sydney in 1964 and joined Bangkok Bank Ltd., Thailand's largest bank with extensive international operations outside of Thailand, in 1965, became responsible for the international operations of the Bank in 1978 and was elected a director in 1980. During his career at the Bank, he was elected President of The Asia-Pacific Bankers Club, Chairman of ASEAN Finance Corporation in Singapore, and President of The Thai Forex Club and Chairman of S.W.I.F.T. (Thailand) Association.

He left the Bank in 1988 to pursue other interests and remained a non executive director of the Bank until 1999.

He currently manages the following companies:

  • Green Spot (Thailand) Ltd. -- Executive Chairman
    • a bottle and distributor of soft drinks, Gatorade and soya milk
  • Krungdhep Sophon (Public) Co., Ltd
    • a warehouse and document storage company listed on SET
  • C.S Capital Limited
    • a private investment holding company
He also sits on the board of directors of several listed and private companies and serves on the following non profit organizations:
  • Director, Narcotics Control Foundation
  • Director, Foundation for the Welfare of Needy School Children Under Royal Patronage of Her Majesty The Queen
  • Member of the advisory council, The Asia Australia Institute, University of New South Wales, Sydney
  • Member of the Board of Trustees, Thailand Management Association
His past positions include:
  • Chairman of Capital Securities & Finance Co., Ltd., United Palm Oil Pcl., and Tuntex (Thailand) Pcl.
  • Vice Chairman of US-ASEAN Business Council
  • Director of Australian-Thai Chamber of Commerce

He is married to Dr. Khunying Kalaya and has four children. His hobbies are photography and tennis.
