JAVIER PRIETO is currently Vice President of External Affairs of CEMEX after more than 15 years of experience in public affairs in the private sector.
He has been president from numerous professional organizations such as the Chamber of Cement Producers, the Interamerican Federation of Cement Producers, the Mexican Foreign Trade Council and the Caribbean Association of Cement Producers. He was also Chairman of the Mexico Committee of the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PEBEC), and currently Vice Chairman of PBEC worldwide. He was also recently appointed President of the National Confederation of Industry Chambers (CONCAMIN) for the period 2001-2003. Prior to this, he was VP Trading of CEMEX, responsible for worldwide exports, imports, shipping, among others. In 1998, Ex-President Ernesto Zedillo appointed Prieto as Advisor to the Mexican Government in the APEC process. A native of Monterrey, Prieto received his graduate degree from ITESM (Monterrey Tech) and obtained his master in Business Administration at Carnegie Mellon University under the fellowship of the Rotary International Foundation. He obtained the MSIA of the Graduate School of Industrial Administration in 1979. Prieto is active in several community organizations and is founder President of SELIDER, a national organization that promotes youth Leadership in Mexico. Recently he wrote the book "Piel de Líder", a book for out times in which parents and youngster will find inspiration and recommendations to enhance their true potential. |
