Jaime Mantilla Garcia
President of Valores y Mandatos de Colombia

JAIME MANTILLA GARCIA was born in Piedecuesta - Santander (Colombia) on February 16, 1949. He began his professional career at the Colombian Library of Congress where he worked as Director from 1969 to 1971 before he graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana with a degree in Legal and Socioeconomic Sciences in the year 1972.

Mr. Mantilla's strategic vision has enabled him to impeccably manage financial sector organizations. He was Banco de Colombia Manager (1976-1977), Banco Panamericano General Manager and Executive Vice-president (1977-1980), Corporación Financiera Grancolombiana Administration Vice-president (1980-1984), and Nacional de Valores S.A. Commercial Vice-president and Shareholder (1985-1987).

Before entering the Academy as Universidad Nueva Granada Law School Colombian Economy professor (1986- 1991) and lecturer at Escuela Superior de Guerra, Mr. Mantilla took several specialization courses and seminars in International Banking at Chase Manhattan Bank, Swiss Bank N.Y. and NCNB Charlotte N.C. in the United States.

At present, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Sherwim Williams S.A., Siminera S.A., Nacional de Valores S.A., Chaine Des Rotisseurs and Cine Colombia, among others.

Mr. Mantilla lives in Bogotá with his wife María Claudia and their three children María, Sebastian and Felipe, 16, 13 and 9 years old, respectively.
