Tan Sri Dato' Azman Hashim

Tan Sri Dato' Azman Hashim is the Chairman of the AM Banking Group.

He has been involved in banking since 1960, when he returned from Australia having qualified as a Chartered Accountant and joined Bank Negara Malaysia and subsequently the Board of Malayan Banking Berhad in 1966. He was its Executive Director from 1971 to 1980, appointed Executive Chairman of Kwong Yik Bank Berhad (now "RHB Bank Berhad") in 1980 till 1982 when he became Chairman of the AM Banking Group until today.

Tan Sri Azman is the Chairman of Association of Merchant Banks in Malaysia, the National Productivity Corporation, the Malaysian South-South Corporation Berhad and the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC) Malaysia, the Malaysia-Japan Economic Association, Malaysia South-South Association, the National Watersports Council and the Malaysian Medical Association Foundation. He also serves as the Treasurer for the Malaysia-US Private Sector Consultative Group and the Malaysia-Australia Foundation and also Vice-Chairman of Malaysian Business Council. He is a Member of the National Economic Consultative Council II, the Business Advisory Council of APEC ("ABAC") and the Trilateral Commission (Asia-Pacific Group). He is also the Leader of the ASEAN-Japanese Business Meeting (Malaysia Committee, Keizai Doyukai) and member of the Malaysian-British Business Council.

Besides being a Chartered Accountant, he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and Fellows of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia.
