4th PBEC Environmental Award International Judges Dr. Kamaruddin Abdullah Dr. Abdullah is the director of the Center of Research on Engineering Applications in Tropical Agriculture, the head of the Energy and Agriculture Electrification Laboratory, and a professor at the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia. He has authored and co-authored eleven books as well as presenting and/or publishing over 100 papers. Dr. Abdullah is also a member of numerous editorial boards for both national and international scientific journals. He has been certified and recognized as a senior professional mechanical engineer by the Mechanical Engineering Division Regulation of the Indonesian Institution of Engineers. Dr. Abdullah has a doctorate in agricultural engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan and a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in agricultural engineering from Tokyo Noko University, Japan. Dr. Pongvipa Lohsomboon Dr. Lohsomboon is the Director of the Business and Environment Program for the Thailand Environmental Institute in Bangkok, Thailand. She is an expert in eco-labeling and in developing environmental criteria for green products. Dr. Lohsomboon has implemented projects promoting environmental sustainability, including life cycle inventories and assessment, cleaner technology and development of Environmental Performance Indicators for various industrial sectors. She serves as a national expert to the TC207/SC3 committee (ISO 14000 standards). Dr. Lohsomboon holds a Master of Business Administration from the Thammasart University, Thailand as well as a Ph.D. in science from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. Mr. Keith Matsumoto Mr. Matsumoto is the chief operating officer and chief financial officer of the Pacific International Center for High Technology Research (PICHTR). He oversees sustainable development efforts through the development and promotion of technology appropriate to the marine and tropical environment of the Asia-Pacific Region at PICHTR, which is funded by both the US and Japanese governments to aid developing economies. He is also the program manager for the bio-mass systems and environmental science & information technology programs. Mr. Matsumoto is an associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers as well as a certified Engineer-In-Training. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, United States, as well as a Bachelor of Science in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, United States. Dr. Dugkeun Park Dr. Park is a Senior Analyst for the National Institute for Disaster Prevention of the Republic of Korea. Considered an expert in ground disasters, earthquake damage and geological engineering, he has published extensively in both Korean and English. He has lectured at length on both the graduate and undergraduate level at numerous Korean universities. Since 1999, Dr. Park has been the coordinator of Protocol Intentions between the Republic of Koreas Ministry of Government Administration & Home Affairs and the US Federal Emergency Management Agency. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Engineering Geology for the Korean Society of Engineering Geology. He has been awarded the Disaster Preparedness Meritoriousness Award by the Republic of Korea, Minister of Government Administration and Home Affairs. Dr. Park holds a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from Cornell University, United States and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Florida, United States. Ms. Eileen Shea Ms. Shea is currently the climate project coordinator at the East-West Center, an education and research organization established by the U.S. Congress to strengthen understanding and relations between the United States and the Asia-Pacific Region. She also chairs the Pacific Climate Information System Working Group, part of the South Pacific Regional Environment Program. She is actively involved in climate and global change science, education and public outreach programs. She has also been continually involved with the Global Environmental Assessment (GEA) and Public Policy project hosted by the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Ms. Shea has a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of Delaware, United States and pursued graduate work in environmental law and marine resource management at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science at the College of William and Mary, United States. Dr. Ryoichi Yamamoto Dr. Yamamoto is the director of the Center for Collaborate Research at the University of Tokyo, where he is also a professor. He is considered an expert in environmentally conscious materials and design, as well as in Life-Cycle Assessment. He is currently the steering committee chairman for the National Project of Life-Cycle Assessment supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. In addition, Dr. Yamamoto is the president of the Ecomaterials Forum of Japan. He has also been a guest professor at twenty-four universities, including Beijing and Qinhua Universities in China. Dr. Yamamoto holds a Ph.D., as well as a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in engineering from the University of Tokyo. Past Judges: Dr. Cary N.
