Agenda Speeches International Economy in Crisis: Options for Stimulating Recovery and Sustaining Growth Westin Fairfax Hotel, Washington, D.C. Thursday, February 11, 1999 PBEC US held its Annual Policy Conference on February 11, featuring speakers and panel discussions focusing on the international economy and the repercussions of the Asian Financial Crisis. Keynote speakers at the conference were Timothy Geithner, Under Secretary of Treasury for International Affairs, and Representative Phil Crane (R-IL), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Trade. Among the speakers participating in the panel discussions were Michael Gadbaw, Vice President and Senior Council for General Electric; Gary Hufbauer, Senior Fellow with the Institute for International Economics; Dean O'Hare, Chairman and CEO of the Chubb Corporation; Markos Tambakeras, President of Industrial Control for Honeywell, Inc.; Gary Tooker, Chairman of the Board of Motorola; and Richard Warmington, Corporate Vice President for Hewlett-Packard. Before the conference began, PBEC US held its Winter Board of Directors meeting. The Directors passed a resolution supporting President's Clinton call for a new round of WTO negotiations.
