PBEC held its AGM 2023 in a hybrid live format, with approved attendees able to either join in person in Hong Kong at KPMG Boardroom in Princes Building or via online on zoom. It was one of our most attended AGM’s for a number of years which was great to see, with representatives from APEC economies such as; Vietnam, Hong Kong SAR, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, China and Macao. Further afield we had members join from the USA, Mexico and the U.K. It shows the broad diversity of nations PBEC engages with and the variety of businesses and leaders we interact with.
Chairman Andrew Weir Said: “I am pleased to see the progress we have made since Michael Walsh took over as CEO in 2019, despite the pandemic we survived and to a certain extend thrived. However, there is plenty of work to do still and as we go out into the region more, my hope is that we can connect and attract more diversity in paid membership as there is real value and purpose about PBEC that I feel business leaders are seeking as part of this tougher economic environment. I encourage all existing members of PBEC to think of someone they wish to recommend and share that with the CEO. It’s a time to bring in some new and fresh faces and that is why I am delighted to see Peter Burnett and Mary Simpson being elected for an initial 3 year term each. But let there be no doubt we have a lot of issues to tackle for our APAC members in the coming months and years ahead. PBEC is a wonderful platform & safe space for roundtable engagement opportunities with peers and senior leaders to take place. Use it as a platform for your business specially if you are seeking new markets, new business partners and have development plans in the pipeline.”
