Benjamin J. Cayetano is the State of Hawaii's fifth governor and its first of Filipino ancestry. Currently in his second term, he has served in elective public office for more than two decades. As an attorney, Cayetano practiced law for fifteen years prior to becoming lieutenant governor in in 1986.

A progressive Democrat, Governor Cayetano is known for his forthright approach and willingness to take bold stands in shaping Hawaii's future. The Cayetano administration is committed to improving education and Hawaii's schools, boosting commerce and diversifying the economy, reforming civil service and modernizing state government, and preserving Hawaii's spectacular natural environment and unique way of life.

He earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1968 and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School in 1971.
