Terence H. Thorn is a 25-year veteran of the energy industry and a 19-year employee of Enron Corp., one of the world's largest integrated natural gas, electricity, communication and energy services companies. He is Executive Vice President, International Government Relations and Environmental Affairs for Enron Corp.
Terry has held a wide variety of senior management positions with Enron Corp. including Senior Vice President, Government Affairs and member of the Executive Management Committee, and President and CEO of Transwestern Pipeline Company, an Enron subsidiary. He remains a senior officer of Enron Corp. and its Chief Environmental Officer where he is responsible for policy and compliance activities worldwide.
He is active in the international energy community and is Chairman of the International Gas Union's Working Group 9 (World Gas Prospects - Strategies and Economics), on the Department of Commerce's Industry Advisory Committee on Energy for Trade and Policy Matters, Chairman of the International Gas Center and on the Advisory Committee for the Council of the Americas. Terry has participated on ten Clinton international trade missions and is past Chairman of the Pacific Coast Gas Association. He was recently named by the Department of Energy as one of two U.S. business representatives to the APEC Energy Working Group (EWG) Business Network and a director of the US-China Business Council.
Terry is well known in the environmental community where he has worked on a variety of clean air issues and climate policies. He is Chairman of the International Finance Committee for the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, former principle liaison for Enron on President Clinton's Council for Sustainable Development and on the Advisory Committee of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation. He was recently named a member of the Dept. of Commerce's Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee.
Active in his community, Terry is a member of the Greater Houston YMCA Board and the George H. Hermann Society, a Trustee of the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute, on the Board of The Nature Conservancy of Texas and a former member of his local city council.
Terry has a BA and MA in History and International Relations from the University of Maryland and resides in Houston, Texas with his wife, Judy.
