Editor-in-Chief, Forbes Magazine

As an influential pro-growth advocate and a writer and speaker on domestic and foreign policy issues, Steve Forbes is one of the most well respected men of our time. As President and CEO of Forbes, Inc. and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Magazine he also runs the nation’s foremost business magazine.

A widely esteemed economic prognosticator, Forbes, whose column "Fact and Comment" appears in every issue, has won the prestigious Crystal Owl award four times as the financial journalist whose economic forecasts for the coming year proved to be most accurate.

In 1995, Forbes took a leave of absence from Forbes, Inc. to campaign for the Republican nomination for President. He vigorously competed in all the early primary contests and was victorious in Arizona and Delaware. Key to his platform was a flat tax that was a tax cut, medical savings accounts, a new Social Security system for younger people, parental control of schools, and term limits.

Forbes continues to promote his agenda as the Honorary Chairman of Americans for Hope, Growth and Opportunity, a grassroots, issues advocacy organization founded to advance pro-growth, pro-freedom and pro-family issues.

From December 1993 until July 1996, Forbes served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Empower America, a political reform organization founded by Jack Kemp, Bill Bennett and Jeane Kirkpatrick.

Steve Forbes was born on July 18, 1947 in Morristown, New Jersey. He graduated cum laude in 1966 from Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts. He received a B.A. in history from Princeton in 1970. At Princeton, he was the founding editor of Business Today, which became the country’s largest magazine published by students for students, with a circulation of 200,000. The magazine continues to be published today by Princeton undergraduates.

Steve Forbes assumed the role of Editor-in-Chief of Forbes in 1990. Since that time, Forbes, Inc. has expanded with the launch of a variety of new publications. They include the lifestyle supplement Forbes FYI; the technology supplement Forbes ASAP; a Japanese-language edition of Forbes; the Gilder Technology Report; and Forbes Global Business & Finance, the magazine’s new international edition that made its debut in March 1998.

Forbes now serves on the Board of Trustees of Princeton University, as well as on other boards, including The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, The American Enterprise Institute and the National Taxpayers Union. He is also on the Board of Overseers of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
