Ernest Micek, who first joined Cargill, Inc. in 1959, was elected chairman and chief executive officer of Cargill, Inc. in August 1995. He was elected to the Cargill Board of Directors in June 1993.

In addition to his duties at Cargill, Inc., Micek serves as chairman of the Emergency Committee for American Trade (ECAT) and is a member of the Business Roundtable (BRT). He has also been appointed a member of the President's Export Council.

Additionally, Micek is a member of the Board of Directors of Schneider National of Green Bay, Wisconsin, a member of the Advisory Council on Foreign Investments in Ukraine, a member of the board of overseers of the Carlson School of Management and its International Advisory Board, a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of St. Thomas, and a trustee of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

He was a recipient of the 1991 Distinguished Service Citation from the University of Wisconsin Department of Engineering, and a recipient of the 1997 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Micek is a member of the board of the U.S. Member Committee of the Pacific Basin Economic Council.
