Gary L. Tooker Chairman of the Board (Ret.) Motorola

Gary L. Tooker is past Chairman of the Board of Motorola Inc. He joined the company's Semiconductor Division in 1962. Since that time, he has held a series of increasingly responsible positions in marketing, product and operations management and corporate management.

Tooker also serves on the Executive Committee of the Council on Competitiveness, the board of directors of Eaton Corporation, as a director of Catalyst, chairman of the board of Junior Achievement of Chicago, and is active in the Chicago United Way. He serves on Arizona State University's Foundation board and has served on the Alumni Association board and been a member of the Advisory Council on Engineering. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and serves on the Industry Advisory board. Tooker has served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Electronic Association and the Semiconductor Industry Association and on the Policy Committee of the Business Roundtable. He also has been a director of the National Alliance of Business and the Scottsdale Boys Club.

Tooker is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1962 and did postgraduate studies in business administration. In 1983 he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from ASU in May 1996.
