Cesar Torrente is a partner of Cano, Torrente, Rivas, Sanguino & Asociados, a leading international law firm, based in Bogota, Colombia, with affiliates throughout Latin America that provides a wide range of legal services of both domestic and international nature, with emphasis in e-commerce.

Torrente served as Legal Vice President of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce from 1993 to 1999 and has represented his Country before PBEC, UNCITRAL, FTAA, ICC and Andean Pact meetings on e-commerce. He prepared the Colombian Electronic Commerce Law and maintains a close contact with key international organizations and companies interested in internet and e-commerce issues.

During the course of his career, Torrente has gained over fifteen years of experience in the field of international business law, including senior positions with important Colombian Corporations and as counselor for large multinational corporations doing business in Latin America.

Torrente has a masters in Comparative Jurisprudence from University of Texas at Austin, School of Law, is a professor of law and is a member of various professional associations. Currently, he is also a member of the Board of Directors of CERTYNET S.A. a Certification Authority that will provide services in Latin America and the Caribbean.
